In the meanwhile, if Israel retaliated against the missile assault, the Iran Guards vowed ‘crushing attacks’.
The Israeli military had already warned the population to seek cover in safe rooms in case of an assault and stated that any ballistic missile strike from Iran was anticipated to be widespread.
Hezbollah claims it clashed with Israeli troops who attempted to ‘infiltrate’.
Hezbollah said Wednesday that it engaged with Israeli forces attempting to invade Lebanon and attacked Israeli troops across the border, according to comments from the Iran-backed Lebanese militia.
According to the statement, Hezbollah forces encountered “an Israeli enemy infantry force that tried to infiltrate into the village of Adaysseh… and clashed with them… and forced them to withdraw”.
Hezbollah also claimed that its forces used “rockets and artillery” to attack “a large infantry force” in Misgav Am across the border, as well as military formations in three other sites, one of which was hit by Burkan rockets.
Since last week, Israel has been extensively pounding Lebanon, notably in the south, claiming to be targeting Hezbollah positions.
